The Reception
No matter the type of wedding, I bring the same amount of energy that I hope my wedding DJ will bring someday. There are a lot of steps during the reception that lead up to the party at the end of the night. Not only will I prepare playlists with your unique music taste, I will also make sure we go over every detail so that we don’t miss a beat.
Here are some moments that I can help direct as your DJ.
The Grand Entrance
As soon as your guests find their seats for dinner, it’s time for you to join the party. I can announce the entrance of your entire wedding party, or just you two, and play a hype song while your guests cheer you on.
Welcome Toast
Right after the grand entrance (if you plan on saving the first dance for later) I can have a microphone ready at your seat. This can be a great time to quickly acknowledge and thank your guests for coming. It would also be the time to have a dinner blessing if you plan to have one. Otherwise, we can skip both and I can go right into Dinner announcements.
Dinnertime
This is where I will announce how dinner is served. Whether your day of coordinator will go around dismissing tables or if I will. When it comes to music, this is a great time to curate a playlist of songs that you personally love to listen to on a daily basis, but wouldn’t necessarily be best to dance to. That way, you can still hear your favorite tunes without the pressure of getting your guests to dance.
Toasts
When dinner begins to wrap up, I will warn your guests to grab a drink before we start the toasts. When you are ready to go, I will introduce the lineup of toasters one by one.
Special Dances
If you saved your first dance for after dinner, I will invite you two to the dance floor for your first dance as newlyweds. Followed by any other special dances you request.
Open the Dancefloor
Now that the hardest part is over, it’s time to relax and have some fun. I will come ready with custom playlists that I’ve prepared with your music taste and song requests. I’ll aim to impress you and your guests with smooth transitions and fun remixes of classic tunes. We’ll also get the dancefloor lighting moving with the music.
Cake Cutting
At some point in the night we will break to cut the cake. This can be done publicly or privately depending on your request. I’ll just keep the tunes going.
Tosses
Nowadays, it seems that couples are doing the bouquet and garter tosses 50% of the time. It is solely up to you if you’d like to include this in your night. You can request specific songs or have me pick them myself. Nonetheless, we will get back to dancing right after.
Last Private Dance / Grand Exit
We did it! Your wedding was a great success. Before you go, keep in mind if you want to do a last private dance while your guests get shooed out the door so you can enjoy the venue all to yourselves. Otherwise, have a safe trip home!
